A descriptive survey design was adopted to analyse the relationship between teacher professional development and the integration of digital technology in French language instruction. The study population consisted of all French language teachers in the district, selected using a multi-stage sampling
technique involving stratified and simple random sampling. Data were gathered from 80 respondents using a structured Likert-scale questionnaire, validated through expert review and pilot-tested for reliability, yielding a Cronbach Alpha coefficient of 0.83. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC), and an independent t-test. Results showed a moderate positive and significant relationship between teacher professional development and digital technology integration (r = 0.54, p < 0.05),
while a significant effect of technology integration challenges on student engagement was also found (t = 2.31, p = 0.024). Conclusively, the study has established a significant relationship between teacher professional development and the integration of digital technology in the teaching of French in public junior secondary schools in Education District V, Lagos State. The findings revealed that as teachers receive more targeted training and professional development, their ability and confidence to integrate digital tools into classroom instruction improve markedly. It is recommended that Schools and educational authorities should prioritise ongoing professional development programmes that focus on the integration of digital tools in the classroom. For successful technology integration, schools must be equipped with the necessary ICT infrastructure, including reliable internet access, computers, and interactive digital tools.
2025-08-12T16:02:52+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Interdisciplinary Journal Of Lifelong Learning https://journals.unilag.edu.ng/index.php/IJLL/article/view/2678 Climate Change for Community and National Development: Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century 2025-08-22T14:26:59+00:00 Motunrayo Ajoke Adeosun folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng Olubunmi Cecilia Oladapo folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng Ronke Christiana Ojo folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng
In Nigeria, climate change intensifies social and environmental stress and exacerbates entrenched gender inequalities. Extreme weather (floods, droughts) and resource scarcity disrupt schooling and livelihoods, undermining education access for girls. For example, recent floods destroyed farmland and displaced thousands, worsening food insecurity and limiting household coping capacity. These, crises increase women’s burdens – longer treks to fetch water and fuel and heightened health risks (waterborne disease, heat stress) – and elevate risks of gender-based exploitation during displacement. As a result, gender gaps widen literacy among young women is 90% in the south but under 30% in many northern states (such as Sokoto, Bauchi, Zamfara). The study highlights broad implications: Climate pressures damage school infrastructure and hinder attendance, while related malnutrition and health issues impede learning outcomes. Women’s economic participation suffers as climate impacts agriculture and livelihoods. In Nigeria, women often farm marginal land, so climate shocks disproportionately reduce yields and incomes. Gender and asset gaps limit adaptive capacity; closing these gaps through empowerment and inclusion is vital. The authors conclude that inclusive, climate-responsive educational reforms and gender-focused development strategies are essential. Prioritizing girls’ education and women’s empowerment can bridge Nigeria’s regional disparities and drive resilient national development. Education and empowerment emerge as key solutions: stakeholders stress that educating girls builds climate awareness and innovation, forming the ‘’foundation of women empowerment to ensure sustainable development’’. Empowerment programmes such as financial services, training, climate-smart agriculture bolster resilience and adaptive capacity.

2025-08-12T16:40:10+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Interdisciplinary Journal Of Lifelong Learning https://journals.unilag.edu.ng/index.php/IJLL/article/view/2682 The Impact of Risk Management on the Performance of Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria 2025-08-22T14:26:36+00:00 Jide Bolaji Shodeinde folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng
This study investigates the impact of risk management on the performance of deposit money banks in Nigeria. Given the increasingly volatile economic environment, risk management has become a critical focus in the banking sector. Despite the pivotal role banks play in national development, they continue to face a wide range of financial risks. The study specifically aimed to examine the impact of credit risk on the performance of deposit money banks in Nigeria. An ex-post facto research design was employed, with five banks purposively selected for the period 2014–2023. The findings revealed that risk management measured by the loan-to-deposit ratio, liquidity coverage ratio, and liquidity ratio has a significant positive effect on return on assets in the selected banks. The study recommended that Nigerian banks need to strengthen their capabilities in liquidity and credit risk management, as well as loan administration, while regulators should focus more on ensuring banks comply with prudential guidelines.

2025-08-12T17:06:51+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Interdisciplinary Journal Of Lifelong Learning https://journals.unilag.edu.ng/index.php/IJLL/article/view/2683 African Ethical Aesthetics and the Christian Life: A Study in Theological and Moral Similitude 2025-08-22T14:26:05+00:00 Adebayo Oluwasegun Bolarinwa folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng Bolayemi Sarah Alaka-Osinowo folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng
Ethics form the foundational identity of every society, shaping its internal cohesion and external perception. In traditional African societies, ethical life is not individualistic but communal, marked by values such as solidarity, mutual care, and collective responsibility. These values are expressed not only as moral obligations but also as aesthetic ideals—harmonious living that reflects the beauty of ordered community life. This paper examines how African ethical aesthetics, particularly the communal ethos, can serve as a constructive framework for reimagining Christian moral life in contemporary contexts. Drawing on theological reflection and ethical theory, the study argues that African communal ethics align closely with biblical teachings on love, unity, and mutual edification within the body of Christ. In light of increasing individualism, rivalry, and power struggles within modern Christian communities, the paper suggests that retrieving and integrating African communal ethics can revitalize the lived expression of Christian faith. By positioning African ethics not merely as cultural heritage but as a theological resource, the study calls for a renewed emphasis on brotherhood, shared responsibility, and spiritual solidarity in the Church. Ultimately, it concludes that the aesthetic vision of African ethics provides a compelling similitude for the Christian life—where moral beauty is found in community, not competition.

2025-08-12T17:16:36+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Interdisciplinary Journal Of Lifelong Learning https://journals.unilag.edu.ng/index.php/IJLL/article/view/2684 Effect of Cashless Policy and Its Implication on Agricultural Activities of Rural Farmers in Ogun State, Nigeria 2025-08-22T14:25:35+00:00 Damilola Olaide Badru folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng Adekunle Stephen Adeoye folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng Victor Edoh Odeje folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng Oluwagbemileke Babasegun Omoyinmi folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng
This study analysed the effects of cashless policy and its implication on agricultural activities of rural farmers in Ogun State, Nigeria. Multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 240 respondents, while interview schedule was used to obtain primary data. Data were analysed using frequency, percentage, mean, and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) at p=0.05. The results revealed that respondents had an average of 55years of age, 75.0% were male, 4 persons per household, had an average of 19years of farming experience, and 2.53 hectares of farm size. The effects of cashless policy were positively seen among rural farmers as majority of them responded to all statements. There is moderate (56.7%) perception towards the utilization of cashless policy among rural farmers. Some of the problems facing rural farmer towards cashless policy were political/economic instability (x̄= 2.17), lack of digital literacy (x̄= 2.03) and lack of access to technology/infrastructure (x̄= 2.00). The coping strategies were the use of trade by barter most times (95.8%), utilisation of POS services (87.5%) and digital payment such as moniepoint (83.3%). Significant correlation (p < 0.05) exists between the impacts of the cashless policy (r = 0.682, p > 0.011) and the perceptions of rural farmers regarding the implementation of the cashless policy within the designated study area. Multiplier effect of the pandemic spurs this study to investigate footprint of COVID-19 pandemic and the managerial approach to enhancing Nigerian workers’ productivity. This study is a quantitative research design that x-rays role of labour motivation through compensatory approach on Nigerian workers’ productive contributions. It is a study built on three (3) management theories: Pandemic Management Theory; Event System Theory; and Scientific Management Theory, which were tested to assist ascertain their propositions. Population examined in this study is a mixture of management and staff of public and private Nigerian manufacturing and service providing corporate institutions. The population size is of Two thousand, one hundred and forty-five (2,145) respondents, while adopted sample size, to avoid spurious results, is of a total of Three hundred and thirty-seven (337) purposively and randomly collected samples. Data used in this study were mixture of primary and secondary data, which was collected through well-structured questionnaire and corporate information of the sampled Institutions. Data were analysed, using inferential statistics, Granger’s causality and relationship mechanism, panel data regression approach, and the t-test results’ reliability tools, so as to ascertain the validity and the reliability of the study’ outcomes. And in all of it, the study therefore revealed that significant but negative uni-directional causal relationship exists between COVID-19 and Nigerian workers’ productivity. Also, the study revealed that strategic motivation through compensatory managerial means has positive and significant impact on Nigerian workers’ productivity; as evident in the β-coefficient value of 0.534. And it was therefore on this premise, that the study concluded so, and then recommended that the managers of human resource in all the sectors of the Nigerian economy, should always be guided in their institutional planning and labour policy management, going by the revelations of this study, by setting out risk management mechanisms that will protect their work-forces from geographical unforeseen and health uncertainties (pandemic). Also, corporate managers should adopt motivation techniques through compensatory means as a clue and mechanism to job performance enhancement. This approach will gravely assist the nation in building quality productive and sustainable output system.

2025-08-12T17:50:37+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Interdisciplinary Journal Of Lifelong Learning https://journals.unilag.edu.ng/index.php/IJLL/article/view/2686 Terrorism and the Socio-Economic Development of Nigeria 2025-08-22T14:24:49+00:00 Edward Nku Obi folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng
This study examines how terrorism has created an atmosphere of fear through the various attacks on people, and infrastructure such as airport; seaport, railway etc. which had stunted the development of the nations’ economy. However, the study adopted the survey research design method with the use of a simple random sampling technique to select respondents. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire on a five (5) point scale of strongly agreed, agreed, strongly disagreed, disagreed and undecided; one hundred and fifty (150) questionnaires were administered to the respondents. The descriptive statistics such as frequency counts and percentages were used for the analysis. The findings revealed that terrorist activities had stunted the socio-economic development of the country to the extent that investors have relocated to other parts of the countries for fear of being kidnapped, destruction of their investments and other valuable assets. Hence, the study recommends that the government should engage the teeming population with jobs as this would reduce the level of poverty and unemployment that is occasioned by terrorist groups. Also, the government should put in place adequate measures to protect and safeguard the territorial integrity of the State as this will bring about a secured environment, and security of the people. Lastly, government should create an avenue for transparent discussions and negotiations with the terrorists to embrace an alternative dispute resolution and accept amnesty offered by the government.
2025-08-12T17:56:47+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Interdisciplinary Journal Of Lifelong Learning https://journals.unilag.edu.ng/index.php/IJLL/article/view/2687 Impact of Digital Finance on Economic Growth: Nigerian’s Experience 2025-08-22T14:24:30+00:00 Kehinde Adegoke Adeniji folafolabi@unilag.edu.ng
This study examines the impact of digital finance on economic growth in Nigeria, focusing on key payment channels such as Automated Teller Machine (ATM) transactions, Point of Sale (POS) systems, mobile money, web platforms, and cheque transactions.
