About the Journal
The Lagos Journal of Contemporary Issues in Arts & Humanities (LJCIAH) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Lagos branch (ASUU-UNILAG). Its ISSN is 1505-806X. It revives the ASUU-Unilag Journal of Contemporary Issues, last published in 2014. The revival reflects the present union leadership's aim to sustain intellectual engagement, promote quality scholarship, and give scholars a platform for critical discourse on contemporary issues affecting society.
Aims and scope: The journal promotes interdisciplinary research and scholarly excellence in the arts and humanities. It argues that these fields help us understand human experience and solve societal challenges in a world shaped by social change, technological advancement, cultural evolution, and economic uncertainty. Published work spans philosophy, education, law, sociology, religion, language studies, information science, and sustainable development. The union also stresses research that is industry-driven and "gown-town" centered and hopes the journal will serve scholars, researchers, students, and policymakers, with a focus on Nigeria and beyond.
Current issue: The 2026 book combines Vol. 5 No. 1 and Vol. 6 No. 1, with fifteen papers across the two volumes.
